Gay community blog InterACTion launches to promote sexual health
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 30, 2009
TORONTO – The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) and GayGuideToronto.com have launched the reincarnation of InterACTion, a community blog where gay and bisexual men can discuss hot button issues from love and sex to cruising and sexual health.
“For many gay men today, the internet has become the primary venue to connect with each other,” says Paul McCarty-Johnston, Gay Menʼs Online Outreach Coordinator at ACT. “We want to engage individuals we might not be able to reach in traditional venues.”
Hosted on GayGuideToronto.com, InterACTion will feature regular blog posts from ACT staff and volunteers, provoking discussion on a number of hot topics. Readers will have a chance to add their own responses and contribute to the discussion. “What is especially exciting about this web initiative is that the anonymity between users will allow for frank, no-holds-barred discussion about some of the topics that we in the queer community don't readily discuss,” added GayGuideToronto.com publisher Shaun Proulx.
This online initiative will supplement the ongoing work of ACT outreach volunteers and staff distributing safer sex and harm reduction information and materials in bars, clubs and bathhouses.
